Yesterday we had our appointment at the American Consulate in Guangzhou. Unfortunately, they "lost" us and we weren't on "the list" to get in. Eventually, with the help of our terrific guide Elvin, they found us and let us in. Everything went quickly and smoothly from that point. There was a group Oath Ceremony and then each family was called up individually to be processed. We were not allowed to bring electronics so there are no pictures. Basically it was a room full of American families and a whole bunch of Chinese children making a lot of noise!
After the Consulate we took out to fabric shopping for the other BAAS family we were with. The fabric market is quite impressive. Too bad I don't have time to sew. While our family waited for the Weaver family, the kids and I spent some time...you guessed it...riding up and down the escalator!!
We also went shopping at the Tea market. I picked up some wonderful teas for us and for gifts. I also found a beautiful Chinese silk outfit for Ian to wear for the Chinese New Year celebration. He looked so handsome in it. I'll get a photo when we get home to share with everyone.
Finally we ended up at the "Trust Mart" which is basically a WalMart and even had "Great Value" brand items. Ian LOVES the shopping cart and FILLING it up!
